Contemporary Garden Landscaping

If you are looking for something ultra modern, we can help you with your Shropshire contemporary garden design and landscaping.

Contemporary gardens may not enjoy the largest space but make full use of the garden space available. The contemporary garden is an extension of your living space for Shropshire urban living.

Contemporary garden landscaping tends to be simplistic and practical, stylish and functional, making the best use of space with simple geometric patterns and lines.

The colour scheme will often be taken from the living space that the garden extends from. Darker colour schemes work well with contemporary designs.

When it comes to Shropshire garden paving, natural materials with smooth surfaces and edges tend to be favoured so natural limestone and slate are very popular. Most patios are design statements within the garden. Bold square and rectangular shapes are the norm. However as you can see from the right from our 'silver and charcoal' garden, it is possible to create a design using circles and arcs if you prefer that design style.

For decorative areas, larger aggregates work a lot better than finer gravels so Welsh slate, pebbles, and Scottish cobbles all work in small quantities.

For internal fencing and screening, we often design bespoke trellis to give different degrees of light and privacy to each area of the garden.

Contemporary garden planting tends to be minimalistic, low maintenance, dramatic and structural.

Not always the best option if you are looking for low maintenance, but if you love the sound of water and are looking for a garden to impress then a contemporary water feature may well be an essential component for you and will certainly give your garden the 'wow' factor. Water features are often vertical, free flowing and steel is often the material of choice rather than traditional stone.

Garden lighting is often a more popular addition to the contemporary garden as these urban style gardens tend to be utilised more in the evening for socialising. Lighting can be practical or subtle mood lighting can be used to create the right aesthetic.

The great thing about contemporary garden design is that it is by the nature of its simplicity and formality, an extremely low maintenance design option with minimal planting and little or no natural turf.

Artificial turf or Astro turf has become highly popular over the last few years and nowhere more so than in small contemporary gardens. Artificial turf requires very little maintenance and doesn't not turn your garden into a bog every time it rains making it a great option in a garden designed to be used throughout the year.

Once the garden is complete you can accessorise it. Choose from geometric planters, all identical and neatly arranged. Modern furniture, stylish water features, and items of art and sculpture occupying key focal points around the garden.

Although most modern gardens are a lot smaller, contemporary design by its nature tends to employ materials such as natural stone and bespoke installations which are more expensive than traditional materials, so please bear this in mind when fixing your budget.
