A well-planned landscape project requires a scale drawn design and in order to do this we need to complete a full survey of the site. We will make an appointment with you for your survey. A garden designer trained in landscape surveying will carry this out. The survey will usually take between 1 and 2 hours depending on the size of the plot. Accurate measurements are taken from the site in order to complete a detailed scale drawing. Changes in level are recorded using laser levels and the positions of drains, taps, and electrics are also noted. A photographic record of the site is then made to e.g. show the relation of the site to the surrounding area, and also make a visual record of any particular issues such as drainage problems. If the project is to include a planting plan, soil samples are also taken to allow a full chemical analysis of the soil in order to determine the best plants for the soil-type.
