Artifical Turf, Astro Turf, Artificial Grass Lawn Laying in Shropshire
If you are looking for real turf then go to our shropshire turf page.
Astroturf, artifical turf, artifical grass or artifical lawn.
Whatever you wish to call it, it is becoming increasingly popular in Shropshire as the price has reduced significantly in the last 12 months as more artifical turf manufacturers enter the market.
The advantages of artifical turf over real turf are:
The disadvantages are cost. The product is approx 10 times the cost of real turf depending on the manufacturer you choose.
- No mowing
- No weeding or feeding
- No watering in the Summer months
- No mud bath every time it rains
- Little or no maintenance
- Hard wearing
- Always green 12 months of the year
- Ideal for hay fever sufferers
Having said that, the price of artifical turf has reduced drastically in the last two years and is expected to drop further as more competition enters the market.
Also you have to factor in your time spent mowing, weeding, watering etc. Having shropshire artifical turf gives you more time to do the things you want to do, unless you enjoy mowing the lawn!
Choosing an Artifical Turf Supplier in Shropshire
Artificial turf has been around for a few years now but it is only really in the last two years that the product has become cost effective for residential use.
The downside of this is that as a quick search on Google will reveal, there are now literally dozens of companies offering artifical turf to suppliers in Shropshire and the choice is bewildering.
If you are ordering artifical turf yourself we would advise you to order a decent size sample before making your final order.
Note also that the surface will feel different once laid depending on the manufacturers recommended installation procedure. Different manufacturers have different recommendations for the depth of hardcore and sand under the turf. Also some recommend the use of kiln dried sand and some do not.
In 2014, we trialled the three largest artifical turf manufacturers whose product was readily available from Shropshire based builders merchants and we came to the conclusion that the best product in terms of looks, feel, practicality and cost was Grono artifical turf.
After installing this product throughout Shropshire, in June 2015 we became the approved installer for Grono artifical grass in Shropshire. For more information on this product, visit their website at Grono.co.uk

Artifial Turf Maintenance
The great thing about artifical turf is that there really is very little if any maintenance. Again this will vary depending on the product you choose but in the case of Grono artifial grass, all that is required is to sweep and wash with water every 12 months or when required to keep the product clean and green.
Following this you may need to brush is some kiln dried sand but compared to the constant mowing, weeding and feeding required with real turf you cannot go wrong.
