Gravel Drives and Paths

If you are on a budget and are looking for the cheapest option to renovate your drive then gravel is the cheapest solution.

However bear in mind that you will still have to have the ground prepared in the same way as you would for block paving, i.e.
  • The surface material needs to be removed down to a sufficient depth to allow for hardcore
  • Hardcore needs to be brought in and fully compacted, either with a vibrating plate or in some cases with a Bomag roller
  • A good quality Geotextile weed control membrane needs to be laid to prevent weeds from surfacing through the gravel
Whether the gravel area is to be a drive or pathway, sometimes an edging is required to keep the gravel from lawn or patio areas. Raised kerbs, blocks or setts can be used for this purpose.

Once the ground has been prepared, the gravel is brought in and raked to the level required.

Note that we can supply gravel in any quantity from half a tonne to 20 tonne loads direct from a local quarry saving you money.
