Patios
Every garden should have one. A beautiful patio to sit and relax on and admire your garden.
A patio can be any size or shape to fit the design of your garden.
There are multitude of paving slab manufacturers to choose from including Stonemarket, Marshalls, Bradstone, Eaton and Village Stone and the choice will be dependant on your budget. When you book your initial consultation we can show you a range of brochures, photos and samples of the different slabs on offer.
If you are obtaining quotes from other companies, always ask for samples of the actual slab that is to be used. Slabs are available in concrete, flagstone, yorkstone, millstone, and slate. The quality and thickness varies widely. Some companies will offer budget concrete slabs that mark very easily. We do not recommend the use of these.
If you are seeing a few companies, ensure that slabs are laid on hardcore with a full bed of cement, rather than using the '5-spot' technique. It may save you money, but it is inevitable that some slabs will soon become loose, and wiil need to be re-laid.
The more expensive paving slab ranges are available in up to nine different sizes allowing intricate and yet natural paving layouts. Or if you are on a tight budget you may prefer using a budget single size 18" slab. However even the budget slabs are available in a range of textures and colours so we can still create a patio for you that looks good.
Depending on your individual requirements the patio can be designed using colours and shapes that will make your garden appear brighter and larger, and using different textures will give the patio a style and feel.
At Shropshire Garden Design every paving slab is laid on a full bed of concrete to ensure it will stay level and will not move. As far as we are concerned, your safety comes first, and there is only one way of laying paving, and that is the right way.
