Indian Natural Sandstone Paving

Ten years ago the most popular product for a new Shropshire garden patio was concrete slabs. There was and still is a good range of textures, sizes and colours, and it is not always a cheap option depending on your chosen manufacturer.

Indian natural sandstone was available in Shropshire but at a premium price.

Now all that has changed with an influx of natural sandstone product shipped directly from India.

We can now source this product for our Shropshire paving customers direct from the importer at a price which is so competitive that almost everyone is moving away from high end decorative concrete products to natural stone paving.

Telford Paving

The main advantage of natural stone over concrete paving is it looks amazing and as it is over 17,000 years old it will outlast concrete slabs which will dry and crack over time.

Indian sandstone has natural colour running through the stone and so will never fade, if anything it looks better over time whereas concrete paving products contain a dye which tend to fade after few years.

Although we can obtain individual sizes, we normally source Indian natural sandstone paving by the patio pack containing a range of sizes as follows:

3'x2' - 900mm x 600mm
2'x2' - 600mm x 600mm
2'x1' - 600mm x 300mm
1'x1' - 300mm x 300mm

We would then design a random looking pattern fully utilising the available sizes in the patio pack and these are laid on a full bed of wet mortar which is in our opinion the only way to do the job properly.

As Indian sandstone is a natural product, it is normal to leave a larger mortar gap than would normally be left between smooth edge concrete slabs to make it look natural.

We can then either point the gap with a mortar mixture or brush in a resin based product which is available in different colours, whichever you prefer.

The best thing about Indian sandstone is the colour options available. No concrete product can match the variety of natural colours found in natural sandstone paving.

To choose the colour, we recommend a visit to the importers and we can arrange that for you either accompanied or unaccompanied which ever you prefer.

It is important to remember that the natural sandstone colours are a lot brighter when wet so we recommend wetting the slabs so that you can appreciate the colour that they will be when it does rain.

The most popular colours available at the moment are as follows:
