Shropshire Turf

If you are thinking about artifical turf, then please go to our shropshire artificial turf page.

We deliver and lay premium quality Shropshire turf and soil to order. Most of our work involves domestic gardens, but we have also turfed areas of caravan sites and small commercial developments.

Turf can easily be bought at your local DIY centre or garden centre but the problem is that it is often left for days at a time on pallets. The soil quickly dries out and the turf loses its colour and starts to fall apart. Even if it is watered regularly, turf should not be left for more than a day before laying.

Quality Shropshire Turf

All of our turf is premium quality meadow turf sourced direct from Wrekin Turf Growers. The turf is freshly cultivated all year around.

Shropshire turf is grown from the finest seed available and cut fresh when it is in peak condition.

The turf is only cut from the growing meadows when the weather is right, it cannot be cut when the ground is too wet or frozen.

We collect the turf from the growing meadows the day it is due to be laid to ensure the turf does not dry out.

Shropshire Turf Laying

If you want to lay the turf yourself we can simply deliver the Shropshire turf and soil that you require or if you prefer we can carry out the full project for you as we have with countless customers. This can include full ground preparation, removal of old lawns, rotovating the ground, levelling the soil and laying new turf.

There is no point buying premium quality Shropshire turf if the soil underneath is sub-standard. Before the turf is laid we level the ground and add good quality sandy top soil added to give the turf the nutrients it requires and help with drainage.

We can deliver and lay any quantity of turf and soil you require. A roll of turf is generally 1 square metre so you can easily work out how many rolls you will need or we can measure up for you. One tonne of sandy top soil will normally cover an area of 10 square metres.

Maintenance

We are often asked about maintenance for your new lawn. We do advise that you water your new lawn each day (unless there is rainfall) for the first week to help it on its way. Also we advise that no-one walks on the lawn during this time to allow the turf to settle. Then after a further week, give the lawn a very light cut. After that you can cut the lawn as you normally would.
