The Brief
To claim back the garden from years of growth and make full use of the garden space available.
Our Solution
Sometimes it is amazing just how much space is lost to hedges and unwanted shrubbery.
In this garden, the customer had lost around 10' off either side of the garden to over-bearing trees and hedges.
Our first task was to cut overhanging branches, take out large shrubs which had taken over areas of the garden, and take back the hedge either side to a manageable state.
Once this was done we created a design to fully utilise the space available.
We installed a patio next to the conservatory, a small arch focal point at the end of the garden and a small wildlife pond in the centre of a new lawn. To try and get away from the rectangular shape of the garden, we created curved ground level beds on either side of the garden which were edged with block pave bricks to create a mowing strip.
Finally the pond was filled and tested and the beds were planted out with hardy evergreen shrubs.
We estimate a third of the garden had been clawed back from its original state and the customers were delighted.
