The Brief
To landscape a small garden but to include a lawn, patio, pergola, raised beds and a water feature.
Our Solution
First, the old fence was replaced with a new featheredge fence with concrete posts and gravel baords.
We then removed the existing turf and levelled the ground. Low maintenace planting was required so we built a small raied bed from tanalised sleepers and planted hardy shrubs. We finished the bed with a covering of weed control membrane and slate chippings.
We then built the focal point of the garden, a large timber pergola positioned for the afternoon sun. Under this we installed Bradstone paving with a path leading from the pergola to the house.
We then installed a small drilled slate monolith water feature on the one corner of the pergola so the sound of water could be heard from the main seating area.
Finally we laid new turf in the remaining area and edged it with a block paving mowing strip.
This demonstrates what we can achieve in a relatively small space.
